HerdLogic™ is for Breeders

When my wife Anja and I looked into purchasing our first Llamas (1994), we visited many ranches and farms. It became clear that many breeders and owners kept extensive records about their animals in a variety of binders, spreadsheets and shoe boxes Often they had problems finding the required specific information about an animal that we liked.

As a breeder using HerdLogic™ you will have all this information at your finger tips.

With HerdLogic™, you can produce a report for each single animal that allows you to include the following information:

  • The pedigree of the animal, showing four generations of ancestors. Although Herd-Logic™ only shows 4 generations in a report, Herd-Logic™ maintains unlimited generations in the background. Making a change to any generation, is immediately reflected in all pedigrees for all animals that have the same lineage in their pedigree.
  • The progeny of the animal, showing the name of the offspring, the sex, the date of birth, the Tag Number, Tattoos, and Microchip ID. The name of the Sire, or Dam, for each progeny is also shown.
  • Breeding (mating) records for a female include the Name of the service Sire, the date and time of each service, the reaction of the female, the pregnancy test related to each service. For past pregnancies, the date of birth and type of birth are also listed.
  • Breeding (mating) records for a male used as a Sire, or Stud, are similar to those for a female. The report includes the names of all females that were serviced, the date and time of service, and the date the female gave birth (as a result of that service).
  • Health records. The health records are very important to follow the chronology of events. HerdLogic™ will list the "routine health and maintenance" tasks and the "special medical" treatments in chronological order. View a very detailed example report, in Adobe® Acrobat format, for a newborn with problems. The names of the animal and the veterinarian have been altered at the user's request.
  • Recording a multiple birth, is as easy as recording a single birth.
  • Weight, height, and body score with the date recorded and comments.
  • Accurate records on "guest" animals. Track boarding fees, breeding fees and medical expenses for agisted animals.
  • Fleece and Fiber information for Alpacas, Llamas, Sheep and Goats.
  • Show information.
  • Sales Brochure or Flyer. Click the link to view a Flash movie showing how to create a Flyer and mail it directly from HerdLogic™

HerdLogic™ is for Veterinarians

HerdLogic™ can help you in managing your "large animal" practice. You can use the "locations" in HerdLogic™ to track the farm, ranch, or stud where the animals under your care are located. Opening a location shows you at a glance the animals under your care. Moving animals between locations allows you to track the movement of these animals. The Medical History will always stay with the animal. You are able to track the owner history in HerdLogic.

HerdLogic™ will list the "routine health and maintenance" tasks and the "special medical" treatments in chronological order. View a very detailed example report, in Adobe® Acrobat format, for a newborn with problems. The names of the animal and the veterinarian have been altered at the user's request.

HerdLogic™ allows you to track genetic traits via the pedigree and progeny information.

The Herd Information Manager (HIM) in HerdLogic™ allows you to schedule and track you next appointments. If you have not already done so, please browse this web site to look at some of the unique and powerful features in HerdLogic™. You can also book appointments for mating dates for herd sires.
